The Servant Girl Treated the Alpha King’s Deadly Beast Like a Gentle Puppy — But When the Monster Bowed Before Her, the King Discovered She Was Hiding a Power That Could Change His Entire Kingdom

Chapter 6

Chaos.

The Crimson Fangs poured through the breach like a tide of red steel. Horses screamed. Guards scrambled to form defensive lines. Arrows darkened the morning sky. Servants fled toward the fortress while the alarm bells rang.

Leon drew his sword. The familiar weight settled into his hand, but something was wrong. The old silver wound in his side began to burn.

Silas noticed. “I wondered how long you would keep pretending,” he laughed. “The silver poison is already separating you from him.”

Leon reached instinctively for the soul bond. The warm, steady presence of Varg flickered. There was distance now. Pain. The connection that had always been as natural as breathing felt like trying to hold water in clenched fists.

Silas raised the silver cage hanging from his belt. Inside rested the Moonstone — but it was no longer beautiful. Dark veins crawled across its pale surface like poison spreading beneath skin.

“The Council protected this secret for generations,” Silas announced. “A corrupted Moonstone severs every Alpha from his wolf.”

Balthazar’s face went white. “You fool—”

“No. I’m the only one who finally understood.”

He twisted the silver frame. A pulse of icy light exploded across the courtyard. Leon dropped to one knee. The pain struck like lightning through his chest.

Far beneath the fortress, Varg howled. Not with anger. With agony.

Lilian’s heart stopped. She knew that sound. It was the cry of a creature being torn away from the only family he had left.

She ran. The guards shouted after her. No one stopped her.

She reached Leon just as another wave of silver energy surged through the bond. Blood stained his armor. His breathing turned ragged.

“Stay back,” he forced out.

“No.”

“Lilian—”

“You spent three hundred years protecting everyone else.” She knelt beside him. “It’s my turn.”

She placed both hands over the silver wound. And instantly, she felt it. The poison was alive. Not literally. But it carried hatred. It wrapped itself around the soul bond like black vines strangling an ancient tree.

Images flooded her mind.

A lonely little boy crowned before he understood what a crown meant. A frightened young Alpha chained beside an enormous black wolf, equally terrified of the world. Centuries of sleepless nights. Battles. Sacrifices. Silence.

So much silence.

Leon had never ruled beside Varg. He had ruled against him. They had both been prisoners.

Tears filled Lilian’s eyes. “Oh,” she whispered. “You’ve both been alone all this time.”

Her chest grew warm. The same warmth she had always carried without understanding. The warmth that calmed frightened horses. That revived dying gardens. That made abandoned puppies follow her home.

The warmth poured into her hands. Silver-white light spread across Leon’s wound.

Silas’s smile vanished. “No—”

The corrupted Moonstone vibrated violently. “No!”

The light ignored the poison. It flowed directly into the broken soul bond. Not forcing it. Healing it. The darkness dissolved like frost beneath sunrise.

Deep beneath the fortress, Varg froze. His amber eyes blazed brilliant white. The last enchanted chain shattered. The ancient wolf burst through the kennel door with enough force to collapse half the tunnel behind him.

He raced through the fortress like living thunder. Walls shook. Doors exploded from their hinges.

In the courtyard, every person turned as the enormous black wolf emerged through clouds of stone dust. Some soldiers dropped their weapons. Others fell to their knees.

Varg ignored them all. He stopped beside Leon. Beside Lilian.

The moment his eyes met hers, the light surrounding her hands leaped into the air — connecting her, the wolf, and the Alpha King in three streams of silver light that twisted together above the courtyard.

The entire fortress went silent. Even the wind seemed to stop.

Balthazar slowly lowered himself onto one knee. “The prophecy,” he whispered. “It wasn’t about destroying the Alpha.”

Leon looked toward him. “What prophecy?”

“The first Alpha recorded that one day a woman with the Gift of Gentle Hearts would appear.” The old elder closed his eyes. “She would not tame the King’s Beast. She would remind them they were never enemies.”

Lilian looked between Leon and Varg. Understanding crashed over her. The beast had never needed chains. He had needed kindness. Leon had never needed control. He had needed trust.

Three hundred years, wasted because everyone feared what they never tried to understand.

Silas screamed in rage. “Lies!” He raised the corrupted Moonstone again. “If I can’t rule this kingdom, no one will!”

Dark energy burst from the silver cage. It shot straight toward Lilian.

Leon moved first. Varg moved faster.

The enormous wolf threw himself between Lilian and the blast.
