“I’ll Buy All Four Sisters For $500—No One Separates Them” Mountain Man Roared At The Cruel Auction

Chapter 2

The man who stepped into the ring was not a man the way other men were men. He was something else. Something the earth had shaped from different material.

Seven feet. Maybe more. Broad shoulders that blocked out the sun. A face carved from mountain rock, pale eyes the color of winter ice, and a scar that ran from his left eye down to his jaw — a wound so old and deep it looked like a crease in leather. His beard was streaked with gray, but nothing about him looked old. He radiated strength like other men radiated sweat.

He walked through the crowd with the slow, certain steps of someone who had never needed to run from anything in his life. The men who had been laughing moments ago fell silent. The ones who knew his reputation stepped back. The ones who didn’t — well, they were smart enough to learn from the ones who did.

“Five hundred dollars,” the auctioneer repeated, his voice cracking. “Did I hear that right, Mr. Stone?”

“You did,” Lachlan Stone rumbled. “Cash. All four sisters. Together.”

Ezra Thorn practically threw himself between Lachlan and the platform. “Now hold on. Hold on. Why would you pay that much for these girls?”
