A Dying Boy Knocked on a Lonely Omega’s Door—Then Royal Guards Arrived and Called Him Their Missing Prince

Chapter 2

The boy stirred in his sleep, a small whimper escaping his lips. Without thinking, Perdita reached out to smooth his hair, whispering soft words of comfort. His breathing settled, and she saw the hint of a smile cross his sleeping face.

In that moment, something shifted in her chest. The careful walls she had built around her heart began to crack. She had spent three years convincing herself that she was meant to be alone, that her gentle nature was a weakness in a world that valued strength above all else. But perhaps she had been wrong. Perhaps her gentleness was not a weakness at all. Perhaps it was exactly what this lost child needed.

Dawn broke gray and subdued over the forest. Perdita woke in her chair, her neck stiff from sleeping upright, but her first thought was for the child. He was curled under the thick comforter, still deeply asleep, but no longer shivering.

She moved to the window, peering through the glass at the forest beyond. The ancient pines stood tall, their branches heavy with moisture that caught the light like scattered diamonds. Everything appeared peaceful. Normal. Yet she could not shake the feeling that she was being watched.

A soft sound drew her attention back to the bed. The boy was stirring, those remarkable golden eyes blinking open with the slow confusion of awakening in an unfamiliar place. For a moment, fear flickered across his small features. But when his gaze found her, relief replaced the panic.

“Good morning, little one,” Perdita said softly. “How are you feeling?”
